some bad but good news on the golf the head gasket, valve stem saels and hydrualic lifter have gone, so this week the heads off to be rebuild and gas flowed and then mated with a piper cam and metal head gasket

Common failing that gaz, esp on the head gasket. I'd check the head ain't warped. I had a previous sat with a warped head. 18 thou skimmed off sorted it.
Snow what if you jump a 50 ft cliff..
Snow what if schuss a 50degree couloir...

mine did it,original head gasket changed at 160,000 miles.

still had the print on the head from the gasket.slight pitting on the head,quick rub down,clean as a whistle,new gasket n bolts.job done.

well everything is ordered or bought now got a ultimate fast road cam and metal head gasket coming from TSR and spent about £250 in gsf today on alternator, gaskets, head bolts, valve stem seals, hydrualic lifters etc etc

LOL DOH nevermind my mate mate works at the one in lincoln so got most parts at trade anyway got everything, even decided to buy all new valves, got the cam and metal headgasket through today so will start tomo

well the head is now back from refurb and porting and polishing its had the full works inc stem seals, new valves and lifters, piper cam, paint and a re polish of the rocker:

couldnt help but notice the alloy water flange! :shock: not seen one of them for many a year!!

lookin good,get some polished pike nuts for the cover. :wink:

thanks for the comments guys its all fitted now but had a few probs getting it to run nice so gone to Andy Robinsons in LIncoln he's a ex vw mechanic and race enthusiast and says it should be running spot on by thurs
