Faulty cental locking on MK4 Golf

Postby s-crew on Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:25 pm

Hi guys

On saturday i took a trip to my local halfords, so everything as normal i turn the engine off, get out and close the door. when i pressed the lock button on the fob it wouldnt lock at all, no noise or anything. but then i pressed the unlock button and it unlocks. firstly i thought that the fob might be faulty so i went home got my other fob and its exactly the same. so now i have to manually lock the doors and boot which is a pain in the rear end. how can this be fixed by myself, or is it a case of back to the dealers?

I think you need to re learn your keys.

Put one key in ignition and turn untill red lights on, but don't start. Other key in door lock, lock and unlock using key.

See if that works, if not, stealership time for ecu interrogation.

There's no car faster than a courtesy car whatever it is

It will feel good getting back in the Golf when you take it back though.
