Picked up some seats and door cards the other day. I'm going to do a bit of swaping foam and covers around to make my drivers seat as good as new. Also spoken to MJ Interiors about fitting rear headrest from my spare front seats.

Goodies from ebay came today as well. A mint parcel shelf with no holes to replace mine with 6x9's cut into it, a pair of 16V rear lights (anyone want my M3 crystals?) and a two tone horn.

Hopefully over the next few days i should get to take the tow bar off, fit a new boot lock, sort the central locking and give the interior a good clean. I need to have a look at the rear wiper too. It was sort of lay flat but not quite as you can see in the pics, but the other day it parked flat all on it's own. Odd.

I'm waiting on a price for the paintwork. As luck would have it, the lad who is doing the job is into his dubs, and has a mint bonnet to save having to repair mine.

Finally stopped myself from driving it. I just wasn't getting anything done on it, so I gave it a wash, put it in the garage and took the interior out for a good clean.

I hadn't driven the Passat for two weeks, and to be honest found it a bit dull getting back in again.

Anyway, both sets of seats are now in my office ready to be loaded up and taken up to MJ's on friday to hopefully make one mint set with added rear headrests. The rest of the insides is getting a full going over. Most of the trim panels have been through the dishwasher to remove 18 years worth of grime, and the carpets are out for a bloody good hoovering. It took 5 hours just to do the boot carpet. Seat belts out, washed and hanging up to dry, and the dodgy stereo wiring been replaced.

I'm missing a couple of bits of trim, a n/s rear door cill cover and the rear panel interior cover inside the boot.

While I was at it I removed what turned out to be a dummy bee sting aerial  to find a hole that looked like it had been made with a butter knife and a hammer, rather than the 10mm drill that was required. As it was new years eve, I bought a £9.99 Halfords bee sting cos I wanted to get on and start re-fitting panels. That was a waste of time, cos as soon as I tightened it up, it snapped off

I do know of a genuine Mk4 base and mast locally, so that might have to be purchased tomorrow.

Thats about it for now, I'd post some pictures, but our 3 year old bust my camara on Christmas eve, and I havn't been out to any shops to buy a new one yet. I will get that sorted to get some pics of the refreshed interior.

Not much time to spent alot of time on the goof, and nowhere near as full on as Chris's Driver, but heres a few quick pics to try out my new camara.

This is why I had to stop driving it, and get some work started.

A good wash, put it in the garage and take the seats out. That stopped me. I was going to sorn it, but I might bring it to Ultimate Dubs, so didn't bother.

Image

The seats are at MJ Interiors at the moment, so I can get at the rest of the interior more easily. I should be going to pick them up next week, hopefully a bit of a road trip with my cousin who has bid on a Daihatsu Fortrack in Manchester, and will need to pick that up.

I have been mostly cleaning and fixing / replacing broken trim. I started at the back and am slowly working my way forward.

Iv'e got a rear panel trim on back order from VW, and MJ is going to carpet the back of the rear seat, so that will tidy the boot up no end. A new parcel shelf with no speaker holes has gone in, and I have fitted some new Blaupunkt 6x4's in the shelf suppports to replace the originals.

This is the middle bit of carpet waiting to go back in when I have cleaned everything underneath.

Image

Outside, I've been working on the roof, to bring back the shine, and get rid of the scratches, fitted a MK4 Golf aerial to replace the dummy one, perfected the lay flat wiper and fitted 16V rear lights which I prefer much more than the crystals.

I had a go at the tow bar, but the bolts are rusted on solid and will need some heat to shift them. That will have to wait till it goes in for paint.

Picked my seats up yesterday, and am well pleased.

MJ is Da Man. The photo's really dont do them justice. He's used the best bits of both sets of seats that I had to make these. Sort of cut-n-shut I supose. Fitted my spare headrests to the rear bench, and carpeted the back to match the boot.

The door cards are off at the moment while I clean the fittings up and sort some central locking, and I've still got the front carpet to finish cleaning, so it'll be a while before they go back in. I've got them in my office at the moment so I can keep having a look at them
