I have been busy again and decided to call it a night.

Mainly wiring again, Got the loom sorted and extended the stuff i need to, fed the washer bottle feed into the cabin along with wiper motor wires, got the loom through the passenger side chassis leg.

well peeps its been a little while since i done anything, due to a great holiday in turkey.

But here it is, i'm a little bored of wiring so i took this

Image

and this

Image

and decided to try and make them as one

first up i driled holes in the carbon panel and also in the door

Image

then i took this little beauty

Image

and inserted a threaded tube into the door, this allows easy fitment of the door card.

Image#

I got a delivery today of a 20m reel of blue seatbelt webbing. this litle lot will become my inner door pull.

Image

and here's how it turned out

Image

Image

I will be finishing the wiring this week, and will chuck a few pics up later.

also found some ultra fine mesh, more to come later

cheers all

Looking great! :D 8)
Did the panels fit nice and flush or did you have to fiddle/trim a little?

finished off fuel lines under the car

Image

Image

re-fitted the passenger side rain gutter

Image

and started on the centre console that will house all switches and heater controls

Image

made the ends up of the main power cable

Image
Image
Image

mounted the ignition control

Image

wired up the starter motor

Image

I got some rear lights from Malc at inters and have decided to colour code the plastic bits.

Image

also stripped and painted the door latch (thanks to oldskool for the bolts) polished the bolts too 8O

Image

fitted front bumper but not happy with the red insert. :?

Image

removed it and rubbed it down and painted that too

Image

primered

Image

painted

Image

also wired up the main battery cable to the through panel connection

Image

Bought some much needed bits today. Bumper supports and an 8mm 12 spline tool for the driveshaft bolts.

Image

so tightened all the bolts, job done.

fitted these little beauts, they are none heated versions of what wa on there.

Image

Well i couldn't help but browse the demon tweeks catalogue and bought a few bits

Blue silicone 3mm tube, 3mm 'T' peice.

turned that stuff into this

Image

Piper X breather filter

Image

And loads of wire

helped me to finish the engine bay and dash wiring

Image

I also bought some aluminium tape to stop the steering boot melting, and i received a parcel that weighed alot. this will remain a secret, sorry.

i am now in the process of the last bit of wiring, the bit at the back of the car. all i have to do is route it down the passenger side and cut the horrible plastic sheath off and replace with cloth wrap.

you should have seen it today, i had it out side and the colour in the sunshine looks cool.

well here it is

Image

O NO ITS GONE

like i said needed to turn it around to work on the ack and drivers side.

Image

got to work straight away and removed every thing

Image

just a pic for reference so you can see the difference between this and the refurbed article.

Image

and my method to remove rear beam bushes

Image

rear drum back plates painted up

Image

and my favourite pic of the day

Image

My Grp N exhaust system arrived today

Image

Image

I also got round to refurbing the re-used components of the rear drums, some bits are brand new too.

Image

Deleted the rear badge and rubbing strip holes, small dents in rear panel to be smoothed over too.

Image

Image

i needed to change the rear panel as it had a big dent in the middle and rust around the tow eye.

so i cut a big section out

Image

and had this to weld back in, its genuine VW too

Image

my welding is rubbish

Image#

also done some more smoothing on the rear and rear quarter

Image

will have this little lot finished up soon

I will be smoothing out the exhaust cut out and creating my own to accomodate my new exhaust.

cheers all

right had a nice pay so treated myself

first up were the silly bits to get me going, exhaust clamps, exhaust rubbers, oil filler cap.

Image

I also managed to get myself a GTI rear end, so i will be converting the driver to discs. cheers jay.

yet to pick it up but have bought some goodies to overhaul

Image

dont ask me why but i bought the steering wheel already, should help with the motorsport interior theme

Image

I also dressed the center console and put the switches in to show you what it will look like

Image

and as you know the rear end is getting the treatment, this is the offside corner.

Image

turns out the rear brake compensator is fu-bared.

so i got me a new one

Image

currently i am cleaning the rear beam ready for painting but it hasn't stopped me over indulging.

genuine new rocker cover

Image

and a touch of under bonnet bling, it serves a purpose too :D going to have it welded to the front strut brace.

Image

I should have it running soon too

Image
Image

i bought some new rear calipers for the driver and masked them up ready for the treatment

Image

the treatment

Image

fitted the disc's with new bearings and fitted to the stub axles, also painted the caliper carriers

Image

then ground the rust off the beam and painted in my favourite finish

Image
Image

cheers all
